Rockhounding field trips are sponsored by Cobb County Gem and Mineral Society, the Southeast Federation of Mineralogical Societies and individual clubs in the Southeast Federation. Members, login to the website to view the upcoming trips.
Members benefit from a variety of sponsored field trips throughout the Southeast. Some frequently visited sites include: Graves Mountain (GA), Hogg Mine (GA), Diamond Hill (SC), and many more approved collecting sites in Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Field trips are open to members only so upcoming trips are only advertised in the monthly newsletter. When available, photos of field trips will be displayed on the website. Contact George Libby if you have questions.
Children and pets are permitted at select collection sites. Please read the field trip descriptions carefully so you aren't disappointed.
Collection sites can pose dangers so it is important that you follow all safety guidelines. Sites require that you sign a liability waiver. Trip announcements usually include a list of recommended equipment for each site, for example, hard hats or steel-toe boots. Members should login to the Members Section to see complete details for upcoming field trips.
