Intro to the Rolling Mill

Learn the ins and outs of using the Workshop Rolling Mill. We will be flattening round and twisted wires, thinning and texture printing various non-ferrous metals. During the workshop you will learn about materials and textiles to used safely in the rolling mill, how to anneal metal, and some of the great texture effects you can get with the rolling mill. Lots of tips about tools, filing, and metal finishing are covered.
No prerequisites but you will need simple wire working skills to finish your earrings and bracelet. You have the option of using your cold connection skills on the sampler bracelet. You will take home:
- Texture sampler bracelet
- Textured copper circle with spiral milled overlay earrings
- Samples for take home or for use in wire-rapping
The supply kit includes: 2 weights copper or brass wire, wire to twist, a pair of sterling ear wires, copper and brass sheet to texture
This class is required before you can use the rolling mill during open workshops.
